When in regards recycling so called 'waste' and its said that “50-60% of which is recycled” don’t you mean ‘reported as recycled’? In the Coolaroo case it appears that much of the material is stored up and then burned!
In a range of cases here in Tasmania the ‘recycled materials’ are buried under a variety of guises. The idea appears to be to make it appear that recycling is being carried out while actually getting rid of ‘waste’ in the cheapest, most convenient manner possible using private sector organisations as ‘cut outs’ so recycling success cannot be monitored.
What’s missing is an understanding that the outcomes of genuine recycling are revenue positive because most Councils believe that recycling is just another way of eliminating ‘waste’ rather than creating revenue opportunities. ... https://theconversation.com/australian-recycling-plants-have-no-incentive-to-improve-81336 ...
